Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, received a congratulatory message from Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, on January 11.
Xi Jinping in the message extended warm congratulations to General Secretary Kim Jong Un and the WPK Central Committee on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and on his own behalf, after receiving the glad news that Kim Jong Un was elected general secretary of the WPK at its 8th Congress.
The message said the 8th Congress of the WPK, in which a series of works for developing the socialist cause in the DPRK were organized and assigned, is of weighty importance.
It noted that Kim Jong Un’s re-election as the top leader of the WPK fully showed the trust, support and expectation of all the WPK members and other Korean people for him.
It expressed belief that the WPK and the Korean people with the congress as an occasion will strive for achieving the goals of socio-economic development and register fresh and bigger successes in propelling the cause of Korean-style socialism under the firm leadership of the WPK Central Committee headed by the general secretary.
Recalling that the two countries, China and the DPRK, are friendly socialist neighbours linked by the same mountain and rivers, the message stressed that it is a steadfast policy of the Chinese Party and government to successfully protect, consolidate and develop the bilateral relations.
Xi Jinping in the message also expressed his will to be together with Kim Jong Un to safeguard the regional peace and stability, development and prosperity and provide the two countries and the two peoples with greater happiness by strengthening the strategic direction of the relations between the two parties and the two countries, constantly writing new pages of bilateral friendship and cooperation in keeping with a series of important mutual recognition made by the two sides, propelling the development of the socialist cause in the two countries and maintaining the orientation towards political solution of the Korean peninsula issue under the situation in which the world has entered a period of confusion and changes.
The message hoped that Kim Jong Un would achieve fresh, bigger success by leading the Korean Party and people, and his work would go smooth.
