On January 14, Juche 52(1963), Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the Pyongyang Children`s Department Store. He was pleased to see that commodities were arranged to satisfy children`s mental qualities and the store was kept clean. And then he slowly walked to the school things counter and carefully looked at school bags.
Saying that there were many satchels but not knapsack bags some minutes later, he advised that the former imposes burden only on one shoulder of students and affects their growth and that it might be better to make the knapsack bags for little pupils.
Officials of the department store were deeply moved by the benevolent care of the Chairman who was more anxious than their parents for ensuring better physical balance of all children.
