Inter-Korean high-level talks for implementing the historic “September Pyongyang Joint Declaration” were held at the “House of Peace” in the south side portion of Panmunjom on October 15.
Present there were a delegation of the north side led by Ri Son Gwon, chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country of the DPRK, and a delegation of the south side with Minister of Unification Jo Myong Gyun as chief delegate.
At the talks the two sides had serious discussions on the practical ways for thoroughly implementing the historic “September Pyongyang Joint Declaration” and developing the north-south relations into a fresh high level, and adopted a joint press release.
The press release said that north-south general-level military talks would be held at an early date to discuss the technical issues referred to in the “military agreement to implement the Panmunjom Declaration.” It also specified the time range of holding a ground-breaking ceremony for linking the railways and roads of the north and the south along the East and West Seas of Korea and for modernizing them.
It detailed the dates, venues and agendas to be tabled at the talks of various panels.
It also noted that the two sides would discuss and push ahead with the technical issues related to the performance to be given by an art troupe of the north side in a south side area.
