Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visited the Masikryong Ski Resort in December Juche 102 (2013) in the teeth of biting cold.
Masik Pass, 768 metres above the sea, is located in the alpine region of Kangwon Province in the central part of the country. Its name derives from the meaning that the pass is so rugged that even a horse has to have a rest while crossing it.
Covering an area of over 1 400 hectares, the ski resort has ten ski slopes, several 600-metre and 2 000-metre-long chairlift cables and a hotel fully provided with various service facilities.
That day, the Supreme Leader got on a chairlift and climbed up to the peak of the pass in order to acquaint himself with the safety and convenience of the chairlifts which people would use, saying that he should get on them ahead of others. And he expressed his satisfaction at the fact that the chairlifts have been installed in a safe and convenient way and the ski slopes are also impeccable.
