One April day in 2014 the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Songdowon International Children’s Camp whose renovation project was near to completion. Around that time a worst-ever situation was being created in the country due to the pernicious moves of hostile forces to mount a new war.
That day he said: On my way to a frontline area I have come here to learn about the result of the renovation of the Songdowon International Children’s Camp on receiving a report that the project has come to a conclusion. I always picture the bright future of children in my mind even amid the fierce confrontation with the enemy. I want to provide our children with the best things in the world as soon as possible.
So pleased to see the camp wonderfully remodelled, he looked round the camp wearing a big smile. After a while he went to the football field.
It was an impeccable football field floored with artificial turves. But the leader asked accompanying officials to set up floodlight towers so that campers could play football even at night and a scoreboard at the opposite side of the outdoor stage.
His meticulous care for children was also shown at the outdoor archery range. The accompanying officials thought that he would be surely satisfied with it. It was because much more efforts were directed to the range than other parts of the camp.
Nevertheless, he proposed furnishing the archery range with racks to place kits on and making seats for spectators and took measures to build a mirror house nearby. He continued to say that he wanted to give children everything good in the world. Thanks to his meticulous care the camp could be refurbished impeccably.
