Sogwang Temple in the DPRK is one of the architectural heritages famous in the medieval age.
Situated at Solbong-ri, in Kosan County, Kangwon Province, it is the Buddhist temple built in 1386. Since then, it was expanded into a large-scale architectural group with 53 grandiose buildings. It takes the first place in the Buddhist temple-typed architectural heritages of the DPRK for its size, area and number of attached buildings.
The Sogwang Temple wonderfully restored by the policy of the Workers` Party of Korea to protect national heritages shows well the excellent architecture and artistic talents of the Korean nation.
