A new term in our era “talent farming” represents the noble intention of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un who is determined to make the DPRK overflow with talented personnel by bringing about a turn in education.
In July Juche 107 (2018), Kim Jong Un visited Samjiyon County, Ryanggang Province. While going round different places of construction sites, he asked his accompanying officials in the province and the county how many educational institutions were there in the county town, and stressed the need for all provinces to direct efforts into education. He said talented personnel are not only the wealth of the country but important resources that guarantee the development of provinces, cities and counties.
Noting that education of the rising generations can be likened to “talent farming” in agriculture, he underscored the need to put not only potato farming but also “talent farming” on a scientific and intensive basis so as to train a large number of talented personnel in provinces in a short span of time.
This was not the first time he compared the education of the rising generations to farming in plain language.
In November Juche 104 (2015) he visited the Pyongyang Children’s Foodstuff Factory renovated in a modern style in a short period. Looking round several places of the factory with satisfaction, he was informed of the fact that teachers and researchers of Kim Chaek University of Technology have played a major role in its modernization project. He highly praised them, saying that the university plays an important role everywhere and that it has done a lot of work.
He continued: Kim Chaek University of Technology should bring up many young, promising intellectuals who will give strong impetus to the work of putting industrial establishments on a scientific and IT footing and become masters in the building of a powerful country. It should pull its weight in “talent farming” so as to train many technical personnel who will shoulder the country’s industry in the future.
