National Reunification Prize

This prize was enacted according to the decree of the then Central People’s Committee of the DPRK on July 25, 1990 on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Korea’s liberation (August 15, 1945) from the Japanese military occupation.

It consists of a certificate and a gold medal.

It is awarded to the patriots and democratic figures who have steadfastly striven to accomplish the country’s reunification and performed great exploits for the good of their country and people by displaying matchless devotion and sacrifice in the sacred struggle to reunify the country.

On August 15, 1990 the first prize was awarded to those people in the north, south and abroad who made tangible contributions to the lofty cause for national sovereignty and the independent reunification of the country.
