On August 20, 1945, a meeting of the military and political cadres of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army was convened at the meeting hall of the headquarters focusing the attention of all soldiers who were excited while awaiting the order of returning to the liberated homeland.
President Kim Il Sung mentioned that they were now facing the task to build a prosperous and independent sovereign state as the historic cause of national liberation had been accomplished.
First of all, the task in the building of a new country was to found the revolutionary party, the general staff of the Korean revolution and a vanguard unit of the working class, the next one to build the revolutionary government representing the interests of the entire Korean people as a strong weapon of revolution and construction and another one was to build the regularized revolutionary armed forces which can reliably defend the country, people and the gains of the revolution by our own efforts and steadfastly ensure the victory of the revolution.
The President affirmed that they were capable of achieving those important tasks if they worked in the unyielding fighting spirit in which they fought and won to the last, not afraid of any hardships and death in the days of the arduous anti-Japanese armed struggle, even though lots of obstacles and pains were in the way of the struggle to carry them out.
Indeed, the historic speech “On Building the Party, State and Armed Forces in the Liberated Homeland” made by the President at the meeting became a milestone to highlight the road ahead of the building of a new country.
