It was one day soon after great bombing raids were committed on Pyongyang in January 1951.
That day President Kim Il Sung inspected several places of the city and explained to officials his far-sighted view on city rehabilitation and construction while saying that they should get ready enough to raise Pyongyang City from that time.
That moment new appearance of Pyongyang erected into a world city for working people came into the eyes of the officials who were fretting over so ghastly state of destruction.
Since then, the President energetically guided designers to perfect the general reconstruction plan of Pyongyang City with a bold view to construct it into a magnificent city, not merely rehabilitated but of strong modernity and unbroken flow of national sentiment.
When this general map of reconstruction, which was actually made in the DPRK during the war, was exhibited at an international meeting of architects they all spoke with the warmest praise.
“… Any people more heroic and optimistic than Korean people are not known yet in the history. It makes no doubt you win a victory and beautiful cities and towns will rise as you have venerated the great leader who gives you such a fighting spirit and faith of a phoenix.”, “It’s really amazing. The DPRK rises in flames.”…
