On May 22, Juche 104 (2015), General Secretary Kim Jong Un of the Workers’ Party of Korea, who devotes his all to improving the people’s diet, visited the Songmak Atlantic Salmon Pedigree Farm and the Raksan Offshore Salmon Farm.
The first leg of his inspection tour was the Songmak Atlantic Salmon Pedigree Farm.
Going round a hatchery, fry breeding room, fry fattening room, water filtering place, indoor and outdoor ponds and other places, he gave instructions which would serve as guidelines in its management and operation and its business activities such as the issue of perfecting Korean-style methods of collecting ovum and semen and hatching them and the issue of updating fish-breeding facilities on a higher level.
The second leg was the Raksan Offshore Salmon Farm.
Saying that the farm was built on an excellent location, he was very pleased to see another valuable property of the country there to be handed down generation after generation.
Learning in detail about the production and fish processing, he saw cage-net fish breeding grounds in the open sea and a fresh Atlantic salmon caught from the sea.
Then, he said to the accompanying officials: In order for the farm to achieve greater success in breeding salmon and processing fish, it should carry on the work of preventing sea pollution to protect ecological environment in a thoroughgoing way, introducing vegetable feed, automating salmon processing on a higher level and boosting productivity. It should also make efforts to ensure hygienic safety and quality of processed salmon.
That day, he expressed his satisfaction repeatedly, saying that he did not feel tired even though he walked all day long and that he would like dancing at the sight of the offshore fish farming.
