What is More Precious than Salt

It was on September 2, Juche 51(1962) when Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the Kwangryangman Saltworks.

Guiding officials to a salt farm, the Chairman said that salt is very precious food in dietary life and widely used in several sectors of national economy including chemical industry.

Looking it around for a while, he spoke carefully that salt production was underdeveloped and if they had a point of view to make much of and get workers free from hard labor they would be able to make successes in technical innovation.

Since then, the officials hastened the mechanization for salt production to considerably lessen their hard labor and rapidly boost salt production.
