Pyongyang International Cinema House

It is situated on Yanggak Islet in the Taedong River running through downtown Pyongyang.

Inaugurated in May Juche 78 (1989), it comprises 6 cinemas with 2 000, 600 and 300 seats and others.

This cinema house was built in a unique and fresh form like a big snail lying on islet or an elliptic gear.

It covers an area of 80 000 m² and its total floor space is about 39 000 m².

The building blends in well with the surrounding natural scenery and makes a sharp contrast with big and small edifices, adding gracefulness to the looks of capital city.

The Pyongyang International Film Festival is held here every 2 years. Not only Korean films but foreign films are often put on show there.
