It happened in January Juche 103 (2014) when Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un inspected a marine products-refrigerating facilities at a fishery station built by a unit of the Korean People’s Army.
Looking round different places of the facilities, he learned in detail about the construction and refrigerating conditions. He spoke highly of the efforts of service personnel who had built such modern facilities with a large capacity in a short span of time.
He then said in the following vein: I have come here to discuss the feasibility of providing fish to baby homes, orphanages, orphans’ primary and secondary schools and old people’s homes across the country. It is our Party’s determination and will to ensure that all orphans grow up to be the successors to the revolution and the backbone of the revolution, free from sorrow of parentless children.
Then he took out his pocketbook and calculated the annual amount of fish to supply them with 300g a day without fail.
The slogan of the KPA “Let us take upon ourselves both national defence and socialist construction!” is very good, he said, adding that the KPA should take upon itself the work of providing fish to baby homes, orphanages, orphans’ primary and secondary schools and old people’s homes across the country all the year round. Then, he issued an order in his capacity as the KPA Supreme Commander on building a fishery station of the KPA in charge of the work.
