Mt. Kuwol

Mt. Kuwol is a famous mountain in the DPRK.

This mountain is called Kuwol (September) as it has the most beautiful scenery when it meets the autumn-tinted September. It has 99 big and small queer peaks including 954 meter-high Sahwang Peak, the main peak of this mountain.

Clear water flows down to deep valleys to make beautiful waterfalls and pools and animals and plants are abundant in this mountain.

This mountain has a lot of historic spots and relics such as Phaeyop Temple and Woljong Temple.

Mt. Kuwol and its outskirts has been enlisted as a World Bio-sphere Reserve in 2004, since it has beauties in appearances of mountains and valleys and richness in bio-diversity.
