Exceptional Meeting of Apology

One day in December 1982, there was an intensive criticism upon a Provincial Party chief secretary who was indifferent to the labor condition of workers in a northern mine at the enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee.

When the meeting was over, Chairman Kim Jong Il said to him that he heard him say he was ashamed to see him as he did not work well. He said that he should not beg his pardon to him but apologize to the miners. He resumed that after dawn he should go to the mine along with other Provincial Party chief secretaries and chief officials of the committees and ministries of the Administration Council and gather the miners and apologize to them for his faults on behalf of the officials, the workers were entitled to judge the mistakes of the officials and if the workers understood their mistakes generously, he then would be forgiven and, if not, it couldn’t be helped.

This was the reason why an exceptional meeting took place to have a Provincial Party chief secretary apologize to the workers.
