President Kim Il Sung said that the WPK emblem should represent the workers, farmers and working intellectuals together and fixed the order of their arrangement, saying that a hammer should be placed on the left, a sickle on the right and a writing brush at the center.
Pointing to the need to make every viewer of the Party emblem clearly see the order of arrangement of the hammer, sickle and writing brush, he drew them with a pencil on a piece of white paper so that every viewer could see at a glance that the writing brush is placed behind the hammer and sickle.
Under his energetic and careful guidance the design of the WPK emblem was unveiled to fully symbolize the character and mission of the WPK in August Juche 35(1946).
