Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and Supreme Commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, inspected the typhoon-stricken area in South Hwanghae Province to learn about damage.
He called Ri Chol Man, chairman of the South Hwanghae Provincial Committee of the WPK, to receive a detailed report on the situation of damage in the province.
He said that the scale of damage from Typhoon No. 8 was smaller than expected, adding that he had worried a lot and he felt it was fortunate to have been damaged that much.
Saying that as all the Party organizations and officials took foresighted safety measures immediately after receiving the instructions of the Party Central Committee with a proper consciousness of countering the crisis and thoroughly prevent damage from the typhoon, they could reduce casualties and minimize the scale of damage in every sector, he positively appraised the national crisis control system against natural disasters taking a proper shape and the ability to counter the crisis making remarkable improvement.
Underscoring the need to do well the work of recovering the typhoon damage as soon as possible by focusing all efforts and to direct efforts to minimizing the damage in the agricultural sector in particular, he pointed out that the agricultural sector should minimize reduction in the harvest by making a correct examination of crop damage and taking measures for improving their growth in contact with agricultural science institutions.
Noting that it is one of top-priority tasks to be surely carried out by our Party to go among the people to share weal and woe with them and encourage and sincerely help them when they are in trouble and feel difficult, and that the Party Central Committee should always be with them when they are in happy times or bad, he instructed every department of the Party Central Committee to turn out in the rehabilitation of the damaged farmland and crops in South Hwanghae Province.
He ardently called on all people to wage a lightning campaign for finishing the recovery from damage as soon as possible with confidence in victory and thus greet the 75th founding anniversary of the WPK most significantly and splendidly with proud feats of labour.
