Three Tombs of Kangso

They are the mural tombs of Koguryo built in the mid-7th century, and they are located in Sammyo-ri, Kangso District.

They stand out because they have paintings of four guardians (white tiger, purple phoenix, turtle and blue dragon), the best of the mural paintings found in more than 100 tombs of Koguryo which have so far been known in Korea. The white tiger, one of the paintings of four guardians, is called one of the world-famous paintings.

In Juche 93 (2004), it was registered as a world cultural asset by UNESCO.
