A great number of trees and flowering shrubs have taken their roots for the past the 20-odd years since the arboretum was built in the area of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in March Juche 85(1996).
Consisting of sections of coniferous tree scenic forest, forest of oil-bearing trees, forest for producing fibre and paper, wild fruit tree forest and timber forest in a vast area of hundreds of hectares, the arboretum is closely associated with the noble loyalty of the Koreans to furbish the area of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il are preserved in their lifetime appearance as the holy place of the Sun.
