Football Tournament Held between Workers of North and South

A football tournament for reunification between the workers of the north and the south was held in Seoul of south Korea to implement the historic Panmunjom declaration.

Games took place between the team of the building workers of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) and the team of the Federation of Trade Unions of south Korea (FTUK) and between the team of workers in the field of light industry of the GFTUK and the team of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) on August 11.

Among the audience were the major members of our delegation led by Ju Yong Gil, chairman of the Central Committee of the GFTUK, Kim Myong Hwan, chairman of the KCTU, Kim Ju Yong, chairman of the FTUK, and other figures of the south side and Koreans of various circles.

When the players of the north and the south entered the stadium with a large flag of the Korean peninsula in the van, the spectators warmly welcomed them with compatriotic feelings.

Whenever players showed good skills, the spectators broke into enthusiastic applauses and cheers.

The games were held amid the hot air of national concord.

Our delegation had a conference of workers’ organizations of the north and the south and meetings of industrial and regional organizations of workers of the north and the south for implementing the Panmunjom declaration together with members of the KCTU and the FTUK, and went round various places.
