It happened one late May day decades ago. As he was passing by a farm in Jaeryong County, South Hwanghae Province, President Kim Il Sung saw out of car windows local farmers transplanting rice with a machine.
Concerned with the farmers working hard by late evening, he asked the chauffeur to turn around the car to direct headlights towards them.
Delighted with the light, the farmers sped up their work, but they had no idea what was going on.
They were about to stop the machine when they knew that the light came from the President’s car.
But the President asked them to drive the machine one more turn and stood on the road for a good while watching them in their work.
Many years have passed since then, but the story is still a good reminder of the President’s close concern over the farmers.
