-Entire Korean People Sing This Song-
In 1961, the art festival of all schools for bereaved children and primary schools was organized on the occasion of the Fourth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
The Haeju Bereaved Children’s School also bubbled over with preparation to attend this festival. At that time, a literary production group was much excited to hear war orphans of this school speaking unhesitatingly that “Our father is Marshal Kim Il Sung and our home is the Party’s bosom” cherishing their boundless gratitude to the President who gave them such a happy life as new dresses of the season, abundant dining tables, sunny classrooms and hopeful future. So, the group completed the song “We Are the Happiest in the World” in high praise of the true feature of socialist Korea where the whole country formed a great harmonious family revering the leader as father.
In the festival, war orphans of this school sang this song in chorus. They all sang this song in a choking voice and with tears. Listening to this song, the President, too, took his handkerchief around his eyes. Audiences gave their warmest hand clapping to the President as they were so much excited by this song of the purest and most beautiful loving care and happiness in the world.
“We Are the Happiest in the World” was never a song to be sung by children only. This famous song echoed as the all-people song in praise of the leader and the Workers’ Party.
It was just from this time that all the men and women of all ages in the DPRK began calling the President “Fatherly Marshal”, a familiar name.
