A Designer Dispatched to Flood-stricken Area

In late August Juche 105 (2016), strong winds and heavy rains hit the northern area of North Hamgyong Province, causing a catastrophic natural disaster biggest ever since the post-liberation meteorological observation.

In order to learn about the damage and take urgent measures to cope with it, officials were dispatched by air to the spot. Among them was a designer.

The previous night, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was so anxious about the enormous natural disasters that he called a senior official of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Stressing the need to build houses before winter so as to stabilize the life of homeless flood victims as soon as possible, he asked the official to learn about the damage and build houses on the basis of a long-term plan.

He said it would be advisable to send designers to North Hamgyong Province to work out a long-term plan for house construction the following day, but all the roads to it were destroyed. So, he saw to it that a designer was included in the party of officials dispatched by air to the spot.

As he could not feel easy, he underscored the need to make well the designs of houses to be built in the flood-stricken area.

That day, he was picturing in his mind the facelifted appearance of the flood-stricken area.

In November that year, scores of new streets and new villages comprising over 11 900 flats were built in a matter of over 60 days in the disaster-hit northern area in North Hamgyong Province, free from the traces of flood damage.
