The following happened one December day in Juche 108 (2019) when the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, visited the Yangdok Hot Spring Resort nearing completion.
After looking round a riding park, a general ski service building and several other places of the resort, he asked his accompanying officials to go back together to the skiing ground and made his way to a chairlift.
An official suggested him taking his car up to the peak of the skiing ground, as he thought he could not make the General Secretary get on a chairlift tough it had gone through several rounds of trial run. The General Secretary walked towards the chairlift, urging him not to worry about him but to follow him on the other chairlift.
Despite the dissuasion of accompanying officials, he told them as follows: Although you had 10 rounds of trial run, it would not be better than I climb up the peak of the skiing ground on a chairlift. Visitors will feel easier if they are told that I climbed up the peak on a chairlift.
Then, he got on a chairlift towards the peak of ski slope No. 2.
After a while, he climbed down to the arrival point of the skiing ground again on a chairlift to learn about its accommodation capacity and gave detailed instructions on installing safety wire-net fences on the intersection of ski slopes Nos. 2 and 3 to fix their demarcation lines.
Noting that visitors can have hot spring bath and enjoy skiing and horse-riding there, he told officials that the resort has been turned into a service base for hot spring treatment and a multi-functional, all-purpose sports, cultural and recreational complex to be really envied by the world people. Then, he continued that he was very pleased and found worth of his life as he has provided people with a peculiar cultural living establishment.
Several years ago, he got on a chairlift on a trial run at the Masikryong Ski Resort, and a riding on hawk in the Rungna People’s Pleasure Ground and a mad mouse in the Amusement Park of Kaeson Youth Park, the mass-based cultural recreation centres in the capital city of Pyongyang. And he oversaw the trial runs of a prototype subway train, trolley bus and tramcar.
