Raising All People to Be Well Versed in Science and Technology

The education in the DPRK is the education at state expense. It is also the education for all the people.

In Korea, 80 percent of population was illiterate under the colonial rule of Japanese imperialism prior to liberation. However, in the 1980s, the DPRK exceeded the target of raising on the nation-wide scale the general knowledge level of its working people onto the level of senior secondary school graduate standard and above and, in the early 1990s, had more than an average one technician or professional per six laborers, its proportion got farthest ahead of all other countries in the world.

In the 2010s, the education of the DPRK reached a new stage to enforce the universal twelve-year compulsory education, rapidly develop the contents and methods of education aimed at the highest level and to regularize the remote education system, a powerful medium to make all people study, etc.

The educational work in the DPRK, where the struggle has dynamically been waged to build a talent power, is attaining the highest stage of its development under the energetic leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
