Mt Ryongak is one of the celebrated mountains in Pyongyang.
The mountain with a beautiful landscape is home to hundreds of species of plants including zelkova Ryongaksan and has historical sites such as Pobun Temple and Ryonggok Confucian School.
One of its famous views is to have a bird`s-eye view of Pyongyang and the surrounding areas from Tae Peak.
President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the mountain and indicated the orientation and ways to turning it into a cultural resort for the people.
Mt Ryongak, which is now provided with the convenient sightseeing path and wonderful conditions for cultural recreation, is called “Mt Kumgang” in Pyongyang for its beautiful scenery.
