It was December 31, Juche 74(1985).
An official was summoned by President Kim Il Sung. It was when he began to step into his office that he saw the President intently looking through a telescope, oblivious of his presence. He stood still.
What is he looking at? he said to himself.
He stood for a while, wondering if he found a phenomenon, and finally asked. “What’s on, President?”
The President turned around to see him, and invited him to take a look.
With much curiosity, he put himself down to the telescope.
The Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt Taesong came into his eyes.
It seemed to him that the martyrs there were rushing towards the President.
He was choked with emotion.
The President said in a husky voice that whenever he thought of his revolutionary comrades-in-arms he looked at the cemetery, adding that as he watched it today he regretted not having done more things for them in their lifetime.
The year was drawing on. With the passage of time, it seemed that he longed further for the comrades who had left him.
