He Obtained “Protest” on His Birthday

On April 14, 1951, President Kim Il Sung inspected the subsidiary food store of the Supreme Command and was destined to see his adjutant there.

Being reported from him that he was making ready food supplies as tomorrow would be the President’s birthday, the President was grateful to him, but told him that he would not celebrate his birthday.

Saying that he lived without knowing how to celebrate his birthday as he was originally born into a poor farmhouse and waged revolutionary struggle to date and celebrating birthday did not accord with his habit of life and, what was worse, the current war situation, the President advised him that he would also celebrate his birthday with pleasure when our people lived well off after winning victory in the war and then instructed him to send all the ready food supplies to the other unit.

That was why the table at which the President sat in the morning of April 15 was what it used to be. It was so simple that the minister of Culture and Publicity who had come to celebrate his birthday filed even an official “protest” with the President, saying that such thing could never happen in the world.
