In January Juche 103 (2014), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the State Academy of Sciences despite the biting midwinter cold.
He dropped in at the exhibition hall of scientific achievements.
The hall housed data and exhibits showing the scientific research achievements made by the academy in recent years.
While examining each of the exhibits, he asked an official of the academy what are the academy’s priority research tasks.
Having been told that it is engaged in projects essential for economic development, such as settlement of the energy problem, he said that “our research work should contribute to giving full play to the strength of the self-reliant national economy and research achievements should timely be introduced into practice.”
The sci-tech field, he noted, should hold up the torch of innovation this year and bring about brilliant hits, making up a gold mountain, a treasure mountain, with tangible fruits.
