With Parental Care for War Orphans

One evening in December Juche 39 (1950), President Kim Il Sung was concerned about war orphans and intended to grow them in his bosom.

During the war the President did not sleep beside the operation table of the Supreme Command and investigated the sons and daughters of patriotic martyrs and war orphans by dispatching officials to all places of the country. Not long since then the President convened a meeting of the Political Committee of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea to discuss the issue related to breeding them at state expense.

In the middle of January Juche 40 (1951) the President instructed the Cabinet to adopt soon a decision to set up the schools for bereaved children of patriotic martyrs and more orphanages.

Later, the President himself raised a parentless child with his parental care in his mansion and after he had inspected an orphan’s primary school, he instructed the Cabinet in process of the plenary session to make the dietary table for improving the lives of orphans and took warm care of them with his parental affection.

Therefore, members of the foreign investigation group who visited the DPRK during the Fatherland Liberation War raised a doubt as to why there wasn’t any orphan in the street even in the relentless wartime. When they were told of it, all of them were deeply impressed and said that they had never heard of it before.
