Agrarian reform was the first democratic reform enforced after Korea was liberated.
On March 5 Juche 35(1946) President Kim Il Sung proclaimed “Agrarian Reform Law in North Korea” and made peasants the owners of land under the slogan of “Land to the tillers!”
In the DPRK rural communities put an end to centuries-old backwardness and poverty and made a leaping progress since the abolition of feudal system of landownership, the root of exploitation and oppression. Today they are preparing for a new era of constructing the rich and civilized socialist ideal land.
