The Two Trees
On March 2, Juche 101 (2012), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un inspected a unit of the Korean People’s Army.
Going round several places of the unit, he learned about its combat preparedness and soldiers’ living conditions. He said it was Tree-Planting Day of the country and planted trees together with its officers and men.
As he saw the holes already dug, he said it was an expression of formalism and that he did not intend to observe the mere formality of planting trees on Tree-Planting Day. He then planted with much care the Korean spruce and Kobus magnolia he had brought with him until it was fairly past lunchtime.
That day, he said it was the firm determination of the Workers’ Party of Korea to turn the mountains and fields of the country into thickly-wooded socialist fairylands by planting trees as a vigorous mass-based movement and pointed to the need for KPA units to plant more trees around them and tend them well so as to turn their stationing places into areas that are as beautiful as pleasure grounds and holiday resorts.
Together with Students
On March 2, Juche 106 (2017), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited Mangyongdae Revolutionary School.
He met students who were planting trees and affectionately asked the excited children their ages, grades, study and organizational life as he stroked their cheeks.
He said he came there as the students of the school came into his mind as he thought of where to go and plant trees on Tree-Planting Day. As the trees they have planted and tended grow span by span, the students will also grow in patriotism, he said, adding that only when they develop warm love for the country from their childhood, can everyone become true patriots who do work for national prosperity of their own accord in the future.
He told the students the tree-planting method one by one in plain words as he planted trees with them. Under his guidance, the elated students speeded up planting.
After examining the planted trees one by one, he said everybody planted them well and that they would recollect the day, seeing the trees that would grow thick on their visit to the place as grown-ups.
