It is 25 km southeast of Hamhung.
It is a well-furnished recreational and tourist resort along the beach on the east coast of Korea.
In the pleasure ground there are a thick forest, a sea bathing resort, a camp and a rest home.
Most spectacular in the pleasure ground in Majon is the sea bathing resort. The water is not so deep, yet clear, the sand is as white as snow. The sand beach is 50-100 m wide. From July to September it is overcrowded with holidaymakers.
