Panmunjom

It is located 8 km away from Kaesong City.

This is the place where the armistice agreement between the DPRK and the United States was signed during the Korean War and where the military confrontation between the two sides has been focused. It was a small village between Kaesong and Seoul. The Military Demarcation Line runs through the village, dividing the Korean peninsula into two parts. The humble rural village has been in the spotlight of the world since the armistice talks were held.

In Panmunjom there are the monument inscribed with President Kim Il Sung’s signature, the hall where the armistice talks were held, the hall where the armistice agreement was signed, the conference halls of the Military Armistice Commission and the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission. In addition there are the Thongil House and Panmun House on the north side of the Military Demarcation Line that runs through the conference halls.
