Looking into the agricultural work in the village, the President said that he heard the village had raised good white apricots from olden times, but he could not see any of them there.

An old man answered that the trees decreased in number at the end of feudal Joson dynasty and were all but annihilated as the Japs constructed the bases for their war supplies atrociously in each of white apricot fields after they had occupied the country.

Instructing the officials to plant white apricot trees in mountains, roadsides and around the fences of farmhouses and turn the village into the beautiful and good village to live, the President said that he would come again to see it after a number of white apricot trees were planted.

The President’s teaching soon spread on wings to Hoeryong County and people planted white apricot trees everywhere, as they wanted to please him, when he came again, who directed his attention to providing them with happy lives.

As a result, the mountains and fields in Hoeryong County are all covered with apricot flowers in every spring. It has now been converted into the famous origin of appetizing white apricots.
