Difficult Yet Duty-bound

One day in December 2021, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un called an official.

He asked the official about the plan for funding the production of new uniforms to be supplied to students across the country.

Upon hearing the official’s report, he said that tens of millions of metres of cloth would be needed to produce new uniforms for all students throughout the country and that though it is not an easy task to make uniforms, bags and shoes and supply them to all students all over the country, we should do it without fail.

He continued after a while that a few days back he told members of the Party central leadership body that he would provide the light industry sector with the money needed for making the school uniforms, bags and shoes. That amount of money would be enough to produce new school uniforms, bags and shoes for all students in the country, he added.

At the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held some time later, Kim Jong Un said: One of the important tasks facing the light industry sector at present is to provide our students with school uniforms. Children should be immaculately dressed although the adults may experience some shortage. It is by no means easy to produce notebooks and other school things as well as bags and uniforms and supply them to children, but it should be done without fail no matter how difficult it might be.

And he stressed that the provision of school uniforms to children is not an undertaking that will be done under favourable conditions or may not be done under unfavourable conditions, but that it is the policy of our Party and the eternal state policy of the Republic that must be done unconditionally and on a top priority basis.

Later on, he gave important instructions on the production of uniforms and bags for students and took relevant measures to this end.
