Monggumpho is a seashore in Ryongyon County of South Hwanghae Province. It is renowned for the coastal scenery with blue waves, white sand beach, thick pine forest and red sweet briers in good harmony.
Its sand beach is also seen at the Rungna Water Park on the banks of the Taedong River in the capital city of Pyongyang.
One May day in Juche 101 (2012), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited its construction site again.
While examining its draft designs to give detailed instructions regarding the project, he said that there would be no place for people to stretch themselves for a rest if open spaces beside the water tanks in the wading pools are covered with floor tiles or paving stones. He added that it would be good to create a beach between the dressing room and wading pools with the sand of Monggumpho.
Accordingly, a beach came into being at the Rungna Water Park.
