The Third Enlarged Meeting of the Eighth Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea was convened on June 21.
Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the WPK and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, attended the meeting.
Present at the meeting are members of the WPK Central Military Commission. Officials of the relevant departments of the Party Central Committee, members of the executive committee of the Korean People’s Army Committee of the WPK, commanding officers of the Ministry of National Defence and military and political commanding officers of the KPA large combined units are on hand as observers.
Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the WPK and chairman of the WPK Central Military Commission, presided over the meeting.
The meeting will analyze and review the work system, order and actual conditions of the WPK Central Military Commission and the provincial, city and county Party military commissions and discuss major tasks for further enhancing the function and role of the military commissions at all levels. It will also review the overall work for national defence in the first half of the year, and put on its agenda the issues of confirming the crucial and urgent tasks to build up national defence and thoroughly implementing the military line and key defence policies of the Party.
The meeting will review the military and political activities of the Ministry of National Defence, the General Staff of the KPA, the KPA Committee of the WPK, commanding officers, staff sections and political departments of the KPA units at all levels, and the Party organizations of the armed forces organs, before deciding on the important strategic and tactical tasks to be fulfilled by the KPA.
The WPK Central Military Commission started the discussion on the presented agenda items.
