One day in December 1947, President Kim Il Sung discussed with officials on lowering the tramcar fares while checking on the matters of raising the people’s livelihood.
However, the officials from the Department of Industry reiterated that it was impossible telling this or that obstacle.
That was why the President called the officials of the Pyongyang Tramcar Station.
He let them know the raised questions and talked to them to find out the ways of increasing the working ratio of tramcars and lowering the rates.
Saying to the officials who blamed themselves that they should not work passively without calculation, the President requested eagerly that their responsibility was heavy, so they should study how to manage better the tramcars, the one and only means of transportation to the citizens and learn hard what they did not know.
It was already late at night when the meeting to lower the fares by half was over.
