It is about 2 kilometres down the entrance to Eight Pool Valley. Mt. Kuwol has many historical relics and sites associated with Tangun, the founding father of Ancient Korea, and Samsong Temple was built to hold memorial services for Tangun and his father and grandfather. Samsong means Tangun and his grandfather and his father Hwanin and Hwanung.
It has three main buildings to the east, west and south, and accessory buildings.
