Taehongdan Revolutionary Battle Site

It is a historic place where President Kim Il Sung commanded the Taehongdan Battle to a brilliant victory during the anti-Japanese armed struggle. The battle (May 1939) was the biggest of battles against the Japanese imperialists that were waged in the homeland of Korea at that time.

Taehongdan is a vast plateau with an elevation of over 1 000 metres above the sea. Its name was derived from the fact that azaleas bloom in spring and maples turn red in autumn.
