The Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace is the palace of love and home of happiness which is closely associated with infinite love of President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un for the rising generations.
Inaugurated in May 1989, it is not far from President Kim Il Sung’s native home at Mangyongdae.
The President and the Chairman ensured that the palace was built as a comprehensive extracurricular educational base where the sons and daughters of ordinary working people cultivate their dreams and talents to their heart’s content.
Since its opening with the peerlessly great men in attendance, the palace has so far run a variety of extracurricular hobby groups and organized mass sporting activities for more than 5,000 schoolchildren every day.
Here at the palace many schoolchildren acquired high technical skills and developed their talents.
Among them are lots of talented personnel beloved by the people, who are now active at prestigious national art institutions, professional art troupes and professional sports clubs, the number totaling several thousand.
Many foreign visitors expressed their feeling of excitement after looking round the palace, saying it was really amazing and they wanted to be born again as Korean children.
The Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace, which has undergone a facelift as the one and only palace of the children under the warm care of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, celebrated its 30th founding anniversary on May 2.
