Extracurricular Educational Base Gives Wide and Profound Knowledge

Lots of people, especially schoolchildren, visit the animal ecology hall and children’s study and experience hall newly built at the Natural History Museum to acquire wide knowledge.

The animal ecology hall showing various animals and plants in tropical forests and savannah is divided into the sections of bat cave, marine ecology experience and land ecology displaying nearly 150 species of more than 260 stuffed and model animals and many plant specimens.

Children’s study and experience hall No. 1 is furnished with lots of specimens of living things, microscopes, LCD TV sets and the like. It has also the function of a place for intellectual development and handicraft. Schoolchildren visit the hall with a class as a unit and study astronomy, zoology and botany by way of question and answer and lecture.

In children’s study and experience hall No. 2, education is given using visual aids and real objects including specimens and collecting tools, amusement facilities and the like.

In the space exploration section, children acquire profound and interesting knowledge about the universe, and according to the animal and plant quiz programme they play intelligent games using cards containing information about large numbers of animals and plants on the basis of what they have learned through the visit to the Natural History Museum.

And young visitors have a vivid idea of fossils in the course of unearthing fossil animals and plants according to the fossil discovery programme, and develop love for animals through my animal friend programme.

These halls of the Natural History Museum which was built as a distinctive educational base and place of culture and rest make a positive contribution to the cultured leisure activities and education of both adults and children.
