WPK Founding Anniversary Celebrated

The Korean people significantly celebrated the 76th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

An endless stream of people visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the supreme sanctuary of Juche where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, founder and builder of the WPK, are preserved in their lifetime appearance.

Working people, service personnel of the Korean People’s Army and youth and students visited the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill and in other parts of the country and their smiling portraits to pay floral tributes to them.

There were performances in Pyongyang and local areas. 

The National Symphony Orchestra gave a concert at Moranbong Theatre.

Artistes of the Phibada Opera Troupe gave an outdoor performance in front of the Pyongyang Grand Theatre.

The revolutionary drama “Blood at an International Conference” was given at the National Theatre and a jugglery suite “Mysterious Wonder” at the Magic Theatre of the National Acrobatic Troupe.

Art squads gave outdoor performances before the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium and Pyongyang Railway Station and at the construction site of 10 000 dwelling houses in Pyongyang.

Itinerant art squads of factories and enterprises and districts and women’s art squads also gave vibrant performances in the areas around the Pyongyang Circus Theatre, the Tower of the Juche Idea, etc., adding to the festive mood.

Provincial art troupes celebrated the anniversary with performances.

Youth and students and women’s union members held dancing parties in different parts of the country.

At the Taekwon-Do Hall, there were men’s and women’s individual pattern and team sparring competitions between the Taekwon-Do team of the Korean Taekwon-Do Committee and the Pyongyang Municipality Taekwon-Do team.

Splendid illuminations on Ryomyong, Mirae Scientists and other streets in the capital city of Pyongyang and other parts of the country enlivened the holiday atmosphere.
