There is a monument to the feats of heroic youth in the northern part of Korea.
The monument was erected in December Juche 105 (2016) in order to convey the feats performed by young Koreans in the construction of the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station.
In the 2010s, young Koreans created an unbelievable miracle in the difficult and gigantic project to build a power station, overcoming unfavourable natural and topographical conditions.
They built a dam and dug waterway tunnels, breaking rocks and moving mountains with sledgehammers and crow bars in the face of the biting northern cold.
When even the vehicles were frozen due to the intense cold, they transported building materials on large and small sledges, and held up the railway bridges with their bodies in the icy waters so as to complete the project ahead of schedule.
They built the dam of Power Station No. 1 by finishing the gigantic project in a matter of over 120 days and completed power stations Nos. 2 and 3 ahead of schedule.
In September Juche 104 (2015), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the power station nearing completion. Noting that all of them are Heroes, he named it the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station and called their achievements as a legendary tale of heroic youth.
Even today, young Koreans are giving full play to the mettle of patriotic youth in socialist construction sites under the leadership of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
