The Korean people significantly celebrated the 76th anniversary of national liberation on August 15.
Entering the plaza park of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il are preserved in their lifetime appearance, the visitors recollected the immortal exploits of Kim Il Sung, the peerless patriot and great man, who built a new country where the people became its masters.
Working people, service personnel of the Korean People’s Army and youth and students visited the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and mosaics of their smiling portraits, including those on Mansu Hill and in other parts of the country, to lay flower baskets, bouquets and flowers.
At the Arch of Triumph, the visitors expressed their reverence for Kim Il Sung who set a world-historic model for the national liberation struggle in colonial countries.
Working people, KPA service personnel and youth and students visited the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt Taesong to pay tribute to the martyrs.
That day, the flags of the DPRK were raised in the streets of Pyongyang and major places in local areas, and peculiar decorations were set up to enliven the atmosphere of the holiday.
Colourful celebration performances were also given at theatres.
