To Impart Love for the Country and Native Land

Patriotism emanates from love for one’s native land.

The youth league committees at all levels in North Phyongan Province encourage students to plant trees during after-school hours in order to cover their home villages and mountains with green woods.

Those in Sinuiju and Jongju cities and Changsong, Ryongchon, Nyongbyon and Thaechon counties make sure that students have a clear understanding of the importance of tree planting and plant many trees which grow fast and are of great economic value, like pine-nut tree and Larix leptolepis.

Sobu Junior Middle School and other schools in Sakju County, which built tree nurseries as suited to their regional features, are now facelifting the appearance of mountains and rivers by planting the saplings of chestnut, black walnut, tara vine and other wild fruit trees.

Based on the achievements and experience of other schools across the country which won the title of Forest of Socialist Patriotism, schools in Unsan County are increasing the survival rate of saplings up to 90% by ensuring that students plant trees and tend them with utmost care while consolidating the knowledge what they have learned in lessons through practice.

In the first half of this year alone, trees of good species were planted in hundreds of hectares of mountains in the province, and tens of schools were honoured with the title of Forest of Socialist Patriotism.
