A photo exhibition and seminar were held at the DPRK embassy in Moscow on August 5 to mark the 20th anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il’s historic visit to the Russian Federation and the 10th anniversary of his visit to the Siberian and Far Eastern Regions.
Present there were the DPRK ambassador to Russia and his embassy members and figures of the Russian government, political parties, organizations and institutions, including the Foreign Ministry, the State Duma, the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia, the “Orchestra of the 21st Century”, the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, the Association for the Study of the Juche Idea and the Korean War Veterans’ Council.
The participants laid bouquets and made a bow before the art work at the embassy depicting President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il standing together.
Then they looked round the photo exhibition hall.
Displayed at the hall were photos dealing with the exploits Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un performed to strengthen and develop the DPRK-Russia friendship.
Also on display there were photos showing the development of the DPRK.
There was a seminar.
The director of the Asia 1 Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the development of bilateral relations in many fields conforms to the interests of the Russian and Korean peoples, praising the exploits of Chairman Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in the development of the DPRK-Russia relations.
The secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation who is also the head of the Russia-DPRK Friendship Parliamentary Group of the State Duma of Russia said that the visit to Russia by Chairman Kim Jong Il, an outstanding statesman, served as an important landmark in the modern political history of the two countries and a significant occasion of providing a firm foundation for the establishment of the strategic partnership.
The chairperson of the Party for Peace and Unity of Russia expressed pleasure over the successful inheritance of the revolutionary cause of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il by General Secretary Kim Jong Un of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
The head of the Orchestra of the 21st Century of Russia recalled how he admired Kim Jong Il for his possession of profound knowledge of all sectors, including politics, the economy and culture, when meeting him. He pledged to work hard for the cultural exchange between the two countries in the future.
