Workers of the Pyongyang Thermal Power Station are making great efforts to increase electric power production.
Fully aware of the importance of their duty in power generation, the driving force of the national economy, they set it as their main task to modernize the generating equipment and are directing their efforts to this end. And they are increasing electricity production by ensuring that sectoral processes have close ties with each other for steady operation of equipment.
Those of heat production workshops Nos. 1 and 2 in charge of an important process in electricity production are raising heat efficiency while positively introducing rational operating methods.
Turbine workshop made a contribution to increasing power generation by introducing high-performance turbine blade last year.
Heat equipment maintenance workshop has already carried out the overhaul of boilers ahead of schedule and are now ensuring regular operation of equipment by giving precedence to the scrupulous repair of generating equipment. It is also pushing ahead with recycling to prepare sheet metal products needed for the repair.
Besides, the power station is mass-producing insulating bricks with slag for keeping the heat of boilers and collecting dust.
The insulating bricks are widely used in thermal power stations as they reduce heat loss and raise the generating efficiency.
Ri Ho Chol, head of turbine workshop, said: We workers are now in high spirits as they turn out in the struggle to implement the tasks set forth by the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Second Plenary Meeting of the Eighth WPK Central Committee. There is a saying that a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. So, we will make uninterrupted advance and innovations to increase electricity production.
